The Johns Hopkins Archaeological Museum asked me to design a site that would reflect the breadth and depth of the collection, do justice to the, in some case thousands of years old, objects in the collection and its new contemporary setting and educational mission.

The design foregrounds the objects and the activities in the museum, the work involved in conserving the collection and the intricate designs of the artifacts, and places it in the contemporary museum itself, a transparent space for studying and working with the objects.

With the renovation of Gilman Hall, the original building that was Johns Hopkins University, a renewed Archaeological Museum opened its doors. Beyond being a place where visitors come and see ancient artifacts, the museum offers the possibility to teach with and study the objects.
